Gary Hofmann

Biography

Sheriff R. Gery “Gary” Hofmann is the elected Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. Sheriff Gary Hofmann was elected in 2006, and took office in December 2006. His term is for four years. Sheriff Gary Hofmann has served with the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff for the past 14 years, holding command positions in both patrol and support divisions. The positions have included, patrol supervisor and community policing / crime prevention supervisor. Previous law enforcement experience is added with an allied agency, bringing the total law enforcement experience of 18 years. Sheriff Gary Hofmann was previously a sergeant before elected to Sheriff.

Sheriff Gary Hofmann is currently a Maryland Police Training Commission Instructor, a National Highway Traffic Safety Instructor and has taught on issues from community policing, crime prevention, domestic violence, and traffic safety. Sheriff Gary Hofmann has placed an emphasis on community and patrol, dedicating manpower to crime prevention and community issues. The Office of the Sheriff has changed the mission statement to “Prompt professional courteous police services with a no tolerance to crime approach”.

Sheriff Gary Hofmann is a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development School and the National Sheriff’s Institute, 92nd Session.
